the elevator story

Monday, June 26, 2006

What do you do when seven AIESECers get stuck in an elevator?
  • press all the buttons in an attempt to get lift to work (emad)
  • try and act rationally and press stop button (joanna)
  • sit down on the elevator floor (puneet)
  • start talking about how we will all die of suffocation (adeel)
  • hold on to other person for dear life (batool)
  • start yelling (me)

Today was a horrible day.

Woke up with a severe headache. Am prone to migraines so I spent the entire day hoping it wouldn't turn into one, and chugging down a gazillion cups of coffee at uni (which for a change, actually tasted pretty great and soothing) and trying to study mindless research methods. My mood went from bad to worse to plain i-want-to-break-down-in-tears-and-cry.

Now as I sit down to write, I wonder what stopped me from crying. Was it the crazy MSN joint conversation (which is in my inbox, named as 'the weirdest chat ever'), the yoga breathing exercise, making fun of Pnut's 2030 plan or watching Coupling at home?

Or is it the fact that while my bad mood is infectious, tears are infinitely worse. I've mastered the 'i will not cry now, i will cry later when home and alone'; and now I can't do it at all.

I think sometimes you get so used to being there for someone else, that you forget to be there for yourself. And thats never good, right?

pickup story#236-a?

Sunday, June 18, 2006
Mikaal went to pick up Puneet from the railway station - he's back from his LC visit to Lahore. I told Mikaal to let me know when he picked him up. This is the text message I got from him:

Invoice no. 236-a
Received: MC CEED
Quantity: 1
Condition: satisfactory
Received by: Mikaal
Signed: Mikaal :)

At Quaid-e-Azam's (founder of the nation) mausoleum yesterday - a monument Delia desperately wanted to visit - she's finally happy now that she has ;)

Words have failed me. Just wanted to write in and say that the strategic triangle will always remind me of the MC 06-07 (even you, MCVPF) and that it still sends a shiver down my spine everytime the guys make a triangle to punctuate their sentences.

you know the pakola obsession has gone too far when..

Wednesday, June 07, 2006
you walk into the MC house, and they proudly show off to you their latest purchase 'Pakola Milk' and brag about how its value for money..
..and then look like the world has ended when you tell them its just regular milk and not Pakola flavored milk..and console each other with the thought that they can exchange it at the supermarket later since they have a receipt..

and you come back home..and an eb member's username on gtalk is..'save water..drink pakola'

There are some pretty surprising things I've said/done/seen/heard/read about while I've been in AIESEC. But this one pretty much takes the cake (or the Pakola can)

Where: Dinner at Damascus (Delia's new favorite place)
Who: Emad, Kurt, Puneet, Mikaal, Delia and me
The Real Culprits: Emad, Puneet and Mikaal

To cut a long story short, there was a Nordic highway AND skulling with the culprits' beloved Pakola. With PAKOLA of all things!

The world is coming to an end. This is it :P

And now I must look for a place to hide before they read this and try to get me to apologize for insinuating that Pakola is not all that great.
